Exprerience

Kuryłowicz & Associates Architecture Studio was established in 1990 but its roots extend to the '80s. Currently the company is an international team of almost a hundred specialists working in offices in Warsaw and Wroclaw. The designs of KA are being realised in Poland, Ukraine, and Russia. The studio's experience has evidence in numerous awards, both domestic and international, and also in its presence in the most important Polish and international publications devoted to architecture. However, almost twenty years of activity means, above all, a list of satisfied Customers, many of which co-operate with KA realizing their next projects.

The Team

The managers of several teams working within the company are outstanding specialists boasting extensive experience in designing and managing investments in Poland and abroad. They supervise professional realisation of projects by a group of architects, graduates of the best schools in Poland and abroad. Many of our employees come to contact with the company already during their studies. The employees of KA also share their experience with the students during the lectures they give. The best students are invited to co-operate with the studio and thus learn the highest standards in design and in Investor communication.

A Complex Approach

KA's almost twenty years of experience is a review of the most important Polish realisations since 1990. The studio can boast many prestigious successes and many Clients whom the company has effectively helped to realise significant investments. Apart from design preparation, the company also deals with all administrative and technical formalities, supervises the subcontractors, takes over the responsibility for obtaining the occupancy permit. The whole process is carried out with consideration for the investment budget and with strict control of realisation costs.

Specialisation

The versatility of the projects realised by the studio throughout the years means priceless experience thanks to which the company works effectively on investments of various characters.

The team has learnt the insights of specifics, standards, and requirements of projects of different scales and purposes.

KA deals with designs of elegant public-utility buildings, i.e. office buildings, banks, head offices of trade companies and of public institutions. The most known realisations of the studio are among these realisations: the Focus Filtrowa building, the LOT Polish Airlines head office, the Okęcie Park office complex, and the complex of educational buildings for the University of Warsaw.

The second field of our operation is investments of a residential character. In recent years we have designed some of the biggest and the most prestigious residential complexes: Eko Park housing estate (20ha), Marina Mokotów (30ha), "The Park of Light", or the Belogrodka Complex in the Ukraine (120ha).

We have also designed many residential towers, apartment buildings, and residencies.

The third specialisation is trade buildings, both large shopping malls (Lublin Plaza – 110 thou. sq. metres) and high-class department stores (Wolf Bracka – 25 thou. sq. metres).

KA also operates in the field of advanced industrial and infrastructure designs. Among such realisations are: factories in Poland and Russia for Avon Cosmetics, Ford Assembly Plant in Płońsk, the Underground Stations in Warsaw, or airports in Modlin and Kielce.

The company also makes sure that constant exchange of experience among the architects in the team is maintained so that one hundred per cent of the employees' knowledge is used with every project.

The Highest Standards

The procedures in effect in KA are constantly verified and improved. Since 2008 some of the studio's projects have been realised according to the rules of Evidence Based Design (EBD), i.e. using the extensive knowledge from such branches of environmental sciences as psychology and sociology. Thanks to this, the studio designs with consideration for the real needs of the end-users of the building.

Our high position on the market makes KA a frequent choice of foreign architecture studios as a co-designer or partner with realisations in Poland.

Our experience within this scope can be confirmed by our involvement in the two most prestigious public investments in Warsaw – Museum of Modern Art (Christian Kerez) and the Museum of History of Jews (Landelma & Mahlamaki Architects). The studio takes part in many large-scale projects in the whole of Poland along with foreign partners. The trust of architects from the whole world is evidence of our highest standard of work, our solidity and simultaneous knowledge of the best practices in the world.

One of the ideas motivating the employees of KA is the concept of "universal" design, propagated by Ewa Kuryłowicz. It is a set of rules our architects follow which determine full adaptation of a given investment to the needs of the disabled.

Kuryłowicz & Associates operates basing on AIA (American Institute of Architects) and FIDIC (Federation Internationale Des Ingenieurs-Conseils) standards, with consideration for Polish conditions, law, and procedures. These determine the rules of conducting the whole investment process. Furthermore, Stefan Kuryłowicz is the author of the document "Procedures of Conduct in Architect-Customer Relations" which is recommended by SARP as regards designer-investor co-operation.

Since the beginning of 1999 the company has had a modern head office in the Saska Kępa district of Warsaw. The new practice is equipped with all the design-enhancing systems, it is fully computerised, uses safe data and e-mail storage and archiving technologies. The advanced technological base allows for execution of tasks of any complexity.
